About Us

Ted Laurier Place is the next chapter in a family story that began over five decades ago. Our new home carries forward the same warmth, dignity, and deep community commitment that has defined the Kinnear family's approach to care since the 1970s.

Our Story

The Kinnear family has been caring for Cornwall's seniors for three generations. It started in the 1970s with a simple but powerful belief: that every person deserves to age with dignity, respect, and genuine human connection.

Sandfield Place opened on Emma Avenue in 1991 as a 53-bed LTC/ 35-bed retirement facility. Under the leadership of second-generation and then third-generation owners, it grew into a beloved institution in the Cornwall community, a place where residents didn't just live, they belonged.

Today, David and Stephanie Kinnear lead the organization. Stephanie, a Registered Nurse and Home Administrator, brings both clinical expertise and a deeply personal commitment to resident quality of life. Together, they spent four years planning and developing Ted Laurier Place,  a facility designed not just to meet modern standards but to exceed them.

"We are focused on quality care, and our long-term care residents deserve the very best we can provide." - Stephanie Kinnear, Home Administrator

The Name Behind
The Place

Ted Laurier Place is more than a name; it's a tribute. The home is named after two of Sandfield Place's most beloved long-term residents: Ted Kinnear, who has called Sandfield Place home since 1991, and his dear friend and roommate, Laurier Laurin, who lived there from 1992 until his passing in December 2023.

Their friendship, and the family's commitment to honouring the lives of the residents they serve, lives on in this new home.
